Good to Great

FIND THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB

Most companies are satisfied with being good which prohibits them from seeking anything more than what they have already achieved – Galahad is not. In fact, Galahad will not settle for anything less than great – in its people, in the services we provide clients, or in any instance of our professional lives.
What are you deeply passionate about?

GALHAD SEEKS CANDIDATES WHO EXHIBIT THESE ATTRIBUTES

Professional Will

  • Creates superb results.
  • Demonstrates an unwavering resolve to do whatever must be done to produce the best long-term results, no matter how difficult.  A workmanlike diligence – more plow horse than show horse.
  • Sets the standard of building an enduring great company; will settle for nothing less.
  • Looks in the mirror, not out the window, to apportion responsibility for poor results, never blaming other people, external factors, or bad luck.

Personal Humility

  • Demonstrates a compelling modesty, shunning public adulation, never boastful.
  • Acts with quiet, calm determination; relies principally on inspired standards, not inspiring charisma, to motivate.
  • Channels ambition into the company, not the self; sets up successors for even greater success in the next generation.
  • Looks out the window, not in the mirror, to apportion credit for the success of the company – to other people, external factors, and good luck.

First Who, Then What...

Getting the right people on the “team” allows Galahad to determine where we want to go into the future. We are rigorous, not ruthless, in making sure we hire only those candidates who are right for the job and who fit into our corporate culture that “good is the enemy of great.”

People Who Have an Opinion

Galahad seeks individuals who have an opinion  (and encourages vigorous debate in search of the best answers) yet those who all unify behind decisions once made, regardless of individual interests.  Galahad creates a culture wherein people have tremendous opportunity to be heard and, ultimately for the truth to be heard.
Galahad creates this climate by:

  1. Leading with questions, not answers;
  2.  Engaging in dialogue and debate, not coercion;
  3. Conducting autopsies, not blame;
  4. Mechanisms to turn information into information that cannot be ignored.

People as Assets

The old adage “People are our most important asset” is wrong and Galahad does not believe in it. Galahad does believe that the right people are our greatest strength– and there is a core distinction. Whether someone is the “right person” has more to do with character traits and innate capabilities than with specific knowledge, backgrounds, or skills. Re-read as it is important candidates understand.

Adversity

The way Galahad approaches adversity will set us apart. Our people hit the realities of any given situation head-on; as a result emerging from adversity even stronger. Galahad retains the ABSOLUTE FAITH THAT WE CAN AND WILL PREVAIL IN THE END, REGARDLESS OF THE DIFFICULTIES and at the same time CONFRONT THE BRUTAL FACTS OF OUR CURRENT BUSINESS REALITY, WHATEVER THEY MIGHT BE.

Motivation

Galahad does not expend energy or time in motivating its people and sees it as a wasted effort.  If we have done our job in bringing aboard the RIGHT people, they will be SELF-MOTIVATED.  Re-read this.  Rather, Galahad does concern itself with the key of not de-motivating people – by not ignoring the facts of our current reality and creating an open dialogue with all members.

Culture of Discipline / Ethic of Entrepreneurship

Galahad’s sustained reputation is dependant upon building a culture full of self-disciplined people who take disciplined action, fanatically consistent, and detail oriented.

Galahad’s culture involves duality: Consistency vs. Freedom

On one hand, it requires people who will adhere to a consistent system, yet, on the other hand gives people freedom and responsibility within the framework of that system. Re-read.

A Galahad member is a disciplined person who engages in disciplined thought and then who takes disciplined action….. i.e. people who display extreme diligence and a stunning (although calm) intensity.

Training

Galahad is strongly committed to employee training and growth. Behind our history as an industry leader, lies a management team devoted to quality and providing continued education in the field of public figure and executive protection.

In addition to our fast-paced and challenging work, we invest a tremendous amount of energy and effort in career development and enrichment. In the continually evolving field of high-level security services, we believe it is essential to help nurture the ideas that will develop into tomorrow’s innovations and achievements.

Our Personal Development and Training programs keep our employees inspired, up-to-date and energized. A full-time, year-round endeavor, our programs create targeted instructional courses that educate and give employees the tools needed to address real solutions.

Programs range from small, personal classroom seminars, real-life scenario instruction, and supervised hands-on field experience.

Getting Hired by Galahad

Application and Interview Tips

We assess candidates on how well they can read and follow instructions. During all phases of the review process, make sure you complete all paperwork according to the specific instructions. Don’t allow yourself to be disqualified merely because you did not take the time to carefully follow the instructions given to you.

Know how to write a formal resume. Candidates can easily find tips and guidance through the Internet.

Return all application paperwork in a timely manner. You will demonstrate your interest and seriousness in the job by how quickly, and completely, you return the information.

Arrive 15 minutes in advance of any scheduled interview or appointment — do not be late. Take the time necessary to know where you are driving, allow for parking, and be fully prepared and not rushed.

Make the interviewers comfortable. Arrive to your interview presentable, relax, look the interviewers in the eye, shake hands, smile, be comfortable, answer questions directly, and don’t try to be anything more than who you are.

Be interesting and humble, enthusiastic, demonstrate outstanding competence and / or an overwhelming desire to learn, highlight your well-roundedness (work, academic, personal), and clarify how you are an excellent fit with both the position you’re applying for and Galahad’s culture overall.

Do your homework and learn about Galahad. You should be able to answer specific questions about our firm when asked. Show us that you care about the career you are applying for by demonstrating you’ve taking the time, effort, and energy to learn everything you can about your potential new employer.

Passion matters and it is skillfully perceived by us. You are probably wasting your time unless you are really excited about the position and work.

Presentation: You are competing with many other highly qualified candidates. Before interviewing, think about yourself, the good qualities you have, the enthusiasm you have, the work ethic and loyalty you have, the intelligence you have and say to yourself (without being arrogant), “If they hire me, they are going to be lucky to have me a part of this organization.” Then, communicate that effectively in the interview.

Make it personal. Communicate what YOU can do for the company.

Leadership qualities: We look for candidates who exhibit competence, courage, curiosity, integrity, loyalty, perseverance, adaptability, compassion, and above all common sense. Be prepared to tell the interviewers why you feel you have these traits and how you’ve demonstrated these traits in past work environments.

Lastly, you are who you are and you cannot change for the job you are applying for. If you communicate you are a sincere person, you are honest, and talk candidly about what you can bring to the company — your interviewers will appreciate and respect that, and you will have a great interview regardless of the outcome.
